Servicing extinguishers

Depending on the type of extinguisher, they all need to be serviced:

Commissioning Service

The BS5306:3:2009 requires all new fire extinguishers to be commissioned on site, at the time of fitting. Commissioning of fire extinguishers is required by insurers. This certifies that the extinguisher has not been damaged and that it is fit for purpose.
If you rent your extinguishers from C2 Fire the commissioning service is included in your agreement.

Basic Service

A basic service would be carried out annually, checking that the extinguisher has not lost more than 10% of the firefighting media inside. This is done by accurately weighing the extinguisher. We will also carry out an external visual inspection looking for damage or corrosion.

All basic servicing carried out on extinguishers are to the requirements of BS5306:3:2003.

If you rent your extinguishers from C2 Fire servicing is included in your agreement. For non-rental clients costs are:

£15 – Site callout
£5 per extinguisher – basic service

Extended Service

An extended service would be carried out every 5 years on water, foam and powder extinguishers. It includes the same checks as the basic service but also requires a discharge test to determine proper operation of the extinguisher.

There is no basic or extended service for CO2 extinguishers as they are subject to different regulations, so after 10 years they would need to be replaced.

If you rent your extinguishers from C2 Fire servicing is included in your agreement. For non-rental clients costs are:
