PAT Testing

PAT Testing

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is a process by which electrical appliances are routinely checked to see whether they are safe to use.

Health and safety regulations state that when working with electrical appliances they must be safe.

To ensure continual safety testing of electrical appliances should be carried out at regular intervals. The interval between tests depends on what type of appliance it is and the environment it is used in.

Not all appliances have to be tested every year. The appliance is required by British law to be safe (as far as is reasonably practicable). The Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) and the Health and Safety Executives (HSE) guidance suggest intervals for inspection and testing range from three months (for construction equipment) to four years (computers in offices).

PAT Testing should be carried out to:

  • Make sure you comply with the latest health and safety regulations
  • Minimise the risk of fire
  • Satisfy the requirements of your insurers

Contact us C2 Fire to arrange for our qualified staff to carry out your Portable Appliance Testing and to ensure that a management system is in place so that retesting is performed in a timely and professional manner.
